The emo scene has been around for a long time, we just didnÂ’t know. Emo started out back in the 1980s, and was used to define or relate to hardcore punk music. It was reinvented in the 90s in Midwestern and Central United States, and a number of new records came out more emo than rock. It was, again, reinvented in 2000 and became ever more popular.
